On Android there is the Twilight app (I’m not sure about an IOS equivalent) . Basically it dims your screen and is meant for when using your phone at night so you sleep easier. But you can run it manually in the day time and it should dim your screen a lot more than your phones lowest brightness settings (at least on mine) and preserve your battery.
You need to change the twilight settings so the screen is dim but you can still see the screen enough to operate in your present lighting conditions.
Or if running apps in the evening/night time and actually watching those fantastic videos and advertisements just let it run in automatic mode (it fades in as the sun sets) and you should fall asleep easier.
