How can I ensure "shop and earn" will work? I'm about to make a larger purchase and it would help out a lot.

I made a purchase from Target and it shows up in my ledger with a zero. I'm going to make a $300 purchase on Amazon and this would help me justify the purchase. Is there a trick to make this work right?
